Chasm

I jumped.

The great

In between,

Such

A divide.

My heart

Has yet to let

Me see

The other side.

Mid air,

slow,

slowest of movements

Here,

Between

Unrelenting pining,

landing unseen

From

such mourning,

I didn’t expect.

Two sides

To which

Neither I

Belong

In this frozen

Moment

Mid jump

Above

The chasm

Here,

Vast possibilities

And

My deepest

Aloneness.

And then

The universe

Asks me to

Speak

Midstream

Mid jump,

Speak?

Speak what?

I have

Nothing to give

No understanding

No great insight

Or inspiration

Just mere love.

Seems hardly

Enough

For

This Earth’s

Great pain.

I wish

I had

More

To give her

In this imbalance

Carry pain,

Carry water

Carry her home

To a better place.
